Connect U.S. Fund Announces Second Phase of Global Security and Cooperation Initiative
The Connect U.S. Fund, a coalition of five major foundations, has announced the second phase of a two-year program that works to foster more effective U.S. leadership on critical global, foreign policy, and national security issues.
The Global Security and Cooperation Initiative, as the program is known, provides support for public awareness and advocacy projects that promote more effective U.S. global engagement on issues such as energy diversification, nuclear weapons proliferation, and international terrorism while encouraging policies that demonstrate foresight and responsibility to future generations. The second phase of the initiative is designed to focus on issues critical to U.S. global engagement in the context of the 2008-09 presidential transition period, including the first ten months of the new administration.
Fund members include the Open Society Institute, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Ford, Hewlett, and Charles Stewart Mott foundations. The Tides Foundation manages the fund's grantmaking program.
