Thunderbird School of Global Management Receives $15 Million in Pledges
Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, has announced pledges to the school's current capital campaign totaling $15 million.
The pledges included a $10 million commitment from alumnus and trustee Scott Walker in support of the operations and expansion of the Thunderbird Center for Global Entrepreneurship, which was established in 2005 with a $1 million gift from Walker. The funds will be allocated to a permanent endowment, the returns from which will allow the center to offer more scholarships, fund professorships, and support a variety of entrepreneurial events.
In addition, campaign chair Barbara Barrett, president and CEO of Triple Creek Guest Ranch, and her husband, Craig Barrett, chairman of the board of Intel Corp., pledged $5 million for scholarships. In recognition of the gift, rooms used for classes, lectures, and special presentations will be renamed the Barbara and Craig Barrett Honor Council Rooms.
"More than ever the world needs people...who can navigate a complex global business landscape," said Thunderbird president Ángel Cabrera. "We are extremely grateful for the generous philanthropy of our school's leading supporters, who are allowing us to help make the world a better place through education."
