Boston Foundation Announces Nearly $13.3 Million in Grants
The Boston Foundation has announced first-quarter grants totaling nearly $13.3 million to nonprofits in the Greater Boston area.
The foundation awarded a total of almost $1.9 million in grants from discretionary funds, including $500,000 to the Allied Health Initiative to continue creating a pipeline of skilled healthcare workers; $500,000 to SkillWorks to address the needs of hard-to-employ residents; and $90,000 to the New England Healthcare Institute for phase III of the Healthy People/Healthy Economy Initiative.
Each quarter, the foundation awards one unsolicited and unrestricted Out of the Blue grant to an area nonprofit. This quarter, the $75,000 grant was awarded to the Citizens' Housing and Planning Association, which brings together affordable housing and community development activities throughout Greater Boston. The foundation also awarded nearly $1.4 million in grants from designated funds and some $10 million in grants from donor-advised funds.
