California
Sharon Collins is stepping down as executive director of the Glendale Community Foundation, La Caņada Valley Sun reports. Collins succeeded her late husband, Tom Miller, eleven months ago.
Maine
The Ellsworth-based Maine Community Foundation has announced that James and Marilyn Rockefeller have established an education fund at the foundation. The Rockefeller Education Fund will work to build the aspirations of K-12 students by partnering with schools in Knox, Waldo, and Washington counties, while also encouraging residents under the age of thirty-five to pursue their passion for postsecondary learning through a scholarship program.
Minnesota
The Little Falls-based
Initiative Foundation has announced that it awarded eight grants in January totaling almost $29,000. Grantees include the Pine River Area Sanitary District, the Housing and Development Authority of St. Cloud, and the Center for Service-Learning and Social Change.

Winona Community Foundation has announced the establishment of a fund in memory of Leonard Lopez. The donor-advised fund will provide assistance to charitable projects and education programs for young Filipinos in need, including the COMPASS mentoring program at Kettering University, where Lopez volunteered.
Mississippi
The Jackson-based Foundation for the Mid South, in partnership with the American Red Cross Hurricane Recovery Program, has announced a series of workshops on self-care for disaster response workers and caregivers in Mississippi. The free, three-day workshops will be held from March through July, and a follow-up workshop will be provided in September.
Missouri
The Taney County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, has announced the establishment of the Tri-Lakes Community Hospices Fund. Developed by the Community Hospice of America Foundation with a $225,000 bequest, the capacity-building fund will provide support for area patients and their families.
New Hampshire
The Concord-based New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced the establishment of the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship to honor public school teachers in the region. Each year, the fellowship will provide one to three North Country teachers with awards ranging from $10,000 to $15,000 each. The fellowship is open to all primary and secondary-grade teachers, with a preference for those working in Coos County public schools.
North Carolina
The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro has received the 2008 Triad Diversity Champions Award for its efforts to strengthen diversity, inclusion, and community relations in the region, the Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area reports. IMPACT Greensboro, one of the foundation's most recent efforts, is a leadership program designed to foster an understanding of community challenges and new ways to address those issues.
Pennsylvania
The Philadelphia Foundation has named Gene Locks, Esq., chair of its board of managers. He succeeds Ellen P. Foster, who will remain on the board member. Locks has been a board member since 1999.
Washington, D.C.
The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region has announced the first grants from its newest affiliated giving circle, the Spirit of Giving 100. The circle recommended $120,000 in grants to six D.C.-area organizations working in the fields of middle school education, arts and culture, and workforce development. Grants of $20,000 were awarded to the Higher Achievement Program, Identity, Inc., the Cultural Development Corporation, Young Playwrights' Theater, Alexandria Seaport Foundation, and the Urban Alliance.
