Idea Center Receives $1 Million Gift to Establish Endowment Fund
The Idea Center at Playhouse Square in Cleveland has announced a $1 million gift from David Morgenthaler and his wife, Lindsay, to establish an endowment at the Cleveland Foundation.
The result of a collaboration between WVIZ/PBS & 90.3 WCPN ideastream and the Playhouse Square Foundation, the center opened in September 2005 and houses ideastream's public broadcasting and education services operations as well as Playhouse Square's arts and cultural eduation programs. Income produced by the endowment will support arts education programs at the center and expand their reach through the use of broadcast and distance-learning technology.
"The Morgenthalers' gift, endorsing the program and services that ideastream and Playhouse Square Foundation provide to the citizens of Northeast Ohio, is extremely gratifying," said ideastream president and CEO Jerry Wareham. "Through their support, many citizens of the region will have access to arts and cultural offerings and related education programs that might otherwise not."
