Atlanta Performing Arts Center Receives $10 Million
Atlanta real estate developer John A. Williams has given $10 million to support the construction of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
In recognition of the gift, the $140 million center's 2,750-seat theater will be named the John A. Williams Theatre. Set to open in 2007, the first new performing arts center in Atlanta in forty years will host a mix of Broadway shows, concerts, dance, and opera performances.
"This will be a superb performing arts center," said Williams, who chairs the center's fundraising committee. "It will make Cobb County, the northwest metro area, and all of Atlanta a better place to be."
