Lower Manhattan Cultural Council - Institutional Advancement Assistant

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, a 39-year-old entrepreneurial arts council based in NYC’s financial district, seeks a part-time, temporary (with possibility for renewal) Institutional Advancement Assistant. This person will work actively with the Institutional Advancement team to support operations and logistics for a range of LMCC’s fundraising, marketing and related functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance of department administrative systems: including contact database, files, press clippings, and other archives
  • Processing of payments and acknowledgement letters
  • Managing department meetings: scheduling, agendas, minutes and follow-up processes
  • Managing departmental reporting processes including, web, social media, audience, event and fundraising monthly and quarterly reports
  • Managing RSVPs for all public and VIP events
  • Maintaining department master event schedule and attendance rates
  • Assistance in managing Board and Arts Advisory Committees: agendas, minutes, meeting materials and follow-up processes
  • Assistance in managing LMCC’s social media accounts and blog postings
  • Assistance in managing LMCC’s volunteers
  • Assistance in preparing for and executing LMCC’s annual Gala and Art Auction
  • Assistance in drafting and preparing funder reports for LMCC’s foundation, government and corporate supporters
  • Copy-editing external communications including eblasts, grants, presentations and proposals
  • Prospect and vendor research
  • Providing administrative support to the Executive Assistant to the President

Other duties as assigned

The Institutional Advancement Assistant will be part of the Institutional Advancement team at LMCC and will report to the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement. He/She will support the department part-time (no more than 20 hours a week) in all areas of responsibility under the guidance of the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement between November 15, 2012 and May 15, 2013 (with possibility for renewal)

Qualifications: Strong candidates for this position will have:

  • B.A. degree in Art History, Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management or related fields
  • 1-2 year(s) of experience in the field or related fields
  • Ability to be graceful and diplomatic in maintaining various business relationships
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
  • Desire to work in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Proficiency using Apple computers and applications, such as Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office programs
