PETA Foundation - Administrative Assistant

Position Objective:

To perform a wide range of clerical and administrative duties for various PETA and PETA Foundation departments

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide prompt and courteous assistance to callers and visitors to the president’s office
  • Provide general administrative support
  • Prepare correspondence and answer inquiries and requests related to a variety of animal issues and business issues
  • Maintain standard operating procedures for departmental clerical duties
  • Assist other PETA and PETA Foundation departments with administrative duties
  • Maintain the integrity of departmental files, correspondence, and calendars
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements and assist with the creation of travel itineraries
  • Assist with the preparation of departmental financial records, credit-card expense reports, funding requests, check requests, donation requests, and relevant paperwork and ensure their timely approval or denial
  • Assist in coordinating PETA special events and projects
  • Maintain the departmental databases
  • Assist in coordinating the president's speaking engagements, book signings, and other responsibilities completed on behalf of PETA and the PETA Foundation
  • Assist with domestic animal and wildlife emergencies
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of office experience
  • Prior experience working with financial records
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Office and database software
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with organization members and members of the public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Proven ability to type at least 60 words per minute
  • Professional appearance and adherence to a vegan lifestyle
  • Proof of positive credit report and clear background check
  • Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
