This position is part of the Research Grants Program Office (RGPO) within the Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS). The RGPO consists of several grantmaking programs that are administered by the University for the University of California, or on behalf of the State of California. These programs are: the California Breast Cancer Research Program, the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program, the California HIV/AIDS Research Program, and the UC Grants Program. The RGPO provides grant review and administration, financial and budgetary services, database management, and other core functions to support UCOP grantmaking activities. The annual grantmaking portfolio for the RGPO is approximately $70M. This position will work within the RGPO Contracts and Grants (C&G) Unit. The C&G Unit provides centralized support for the proposal solicitation, peer review, contracting, compliance, and post-award grant monitoring functions within the RGPO. The C&G Portfolio Analyst is responsible for supporting the centralized C&G workload including activities associated with the solicitation, receipt and management of grant applications, peer review, funding and monitoring of funded awards. Post-Award Support: The primary work area for this position is post-award grants management. Once funding decisions are made, the portfolio analyst is responsible for managing a portfolio of active research grants; initiating the grant funding paperwork and associated documents, ensuring appropriate authorizations at UCOP and campuses are obtained, implementing a standardized process for post-award grants management from project initiation to close-out using IT tools; communicating with PIs and contracts and grants officials regarding grant terms, conditions, assurances and modifications, and providing troubleshooting support for assigned grants. Pre-Award Support: This position will also assist the pre-award team with pre-award activities, which may include (but not be limited to): online receipt and assignment of applications for peer review, general support and communication with applicants and peer reviewers, and administrative and technical assistance for the peer review meetings. The Portfolio Analyst may also be called upon to identify potential problems, issues, or questions that arise in relation to a particular review cycle or type of award, and propose and implement possible solutions.
