Triangle Community Foundation - President and CEO
Triangle Community Foundation has the obligation of recruiting a new President and CEO with the credentials, leadership and vision to make a significant and lasting impact on the Triangle region. The President and CEO is responsible for the daily operations and overall performance of TCF. The President and CEO will work closely with the Board to set strategy and shape policy and with the staff on program administration and financial matters. He/she is responsible for the development and nurturing of a diverse range of partnerships and relationships that will enable TCF to expand its programs and realize goals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continue to execute the vision of the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan
- Translate the Foundation’s vision into action in a way that continues to ensure excellence and complete transparency
- Expand the Foundation’s voice and influence through targeted outreach, existing and new partnerships and public presence
- Ensure the Foundation’s programs, initiatives and activities are well thought out investments that advance the mission
- Work with the Board and keep them informed on a timely basis about financial and operational performance
- Promote ongoing development of a strong Board
- Manage the fiscal budget and leverage assets of the Foundation to effect the most positive change possible for the people of the Triangle Region
- Continue to ensure the financial viability and integrity of all financial transactions
- Oversee administrative and program operations and ensure that high professional standards are maintained
- Cultivate, retain and hire staff who are collaborative and bring excellence and passion to the advancing of the Foundation’s mission
- Work proactively to continue to build the Foundation’s regional presence, broad range of excellent programs and new initiatives
- Stay on the cutting edge of best practices by continuing engagement on an national level with philanthropic organizations
- Develop and maintain sustainable revenue models for the Foundation’s future
The Person
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Ten or more years of high visibility CEO or equivalent experience with a non-profit and/or for-profit organization
- Experience should include leading a community foundation or extensive history of Board level engagement with community based philanthropic organizations
- History of identifying and cultivating relationships that lead to new donor engagement
- Experience and understanding of philanthropy
- Understanding of complex financial models and how they relate to the sustainable financial goals of the Foundation
- Seasoned intelligence; a quick study as well as a broad-gauge thinker, proclivity to think, read, speak and write about nonprofit philanthropic organizations
- Effective Board relations; an open communicator who can provide timely information, minimize conflict and implement policy initiatives, and a clear understanding of the difference between policy and administration
- Experience in North Carolina with nonprofits, business and philanthropic leaders a plus

- Proven consensus builder managing diverse viewpoints to an effective and positive solution
- Networker that builds collaborative and productive relationships with others both inside and outside philanthropy organizations, and maintains a wide network of contacts that can be leveraged on behalf of the organization’s goals
- Drive for results - Ability to continually focus on achieving positive, concrete results that contribute to the business success of the organization. Display a genuine passion for the region
- Strategic visionary thinker – Ability to set sights on a new future, constantly identifying the challenges, threats and opportunities that exist in the environment – able to think differently about how the environment and businesses operate and look for new ways to solve these problems
- Developing people - Discusses professional development needs with employees and provides them with opportunities and visibility, as well as advice and coaching. Shows a sincere interest in developing talent for the benefit of the organization. Has skill in guiding new employees through an orientation process, coaches on job performance, gives feedback, empowers and suggests corrective action as appropriate
- Eloquent speaker - Be persuasive and credible about the organization and its mission in multiple settings. Show inspiration in conveying how the foundation helps organizations change lives and utilize resources
