SIFMA Foundation - Director of Technology

The SIFMA Foundation has a rich tradition of promoting financial education across communities. Drawing on the support of the financial industry, the SIFMA Foundation provides programs and tools that strengthen economic opportunity for individuals of all backgrounds and increase their access to the benefits of the global marketplace. With a 34-year history of educational leadership, the SIFMA Foundation has changed millions of lives, including 14 million students who have gained academic enrichment and critical life skills through SIFMA Foundation’s acclaimed Stock Market Game™, InvestWrite®, and Capitol Hill Challenge™ programs. The Stock Market GameTM, SIFMA Foundation’s flagship program, is an online, classroom-based educational initiative that simulates the workings of the global capital markets for 600,000 4th-12th grade students each year.

The SIFMA Foundation is currently seeking a Director of Technology. This is a unique position requiring technology skills and financial portfolio accounting skills as well as management expertise and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will also possess a broad based understanding of the trends in and evolution of technology, including mobile/digital technology, development and use of apps, social media, and the integration of technology in schools and education. The Director of Technology is responsible for ensuring that SIFMA FIE program interface and technology back-end system work effectively for students, for teachers and for regional coordinators, while accurately reflecting real life changes/actions on the NYSE, NASDAQ and markets.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive understanding of system architecture and experience with: Relational database design, Web system design and development, Program development and testing (alpha, beta, full system and regression)
  • IBM DB2 database and AIX operating systems experience
  • Experience with computer hardware capacity planning and end user help desk experience
  • Ability to set/track SLAs with vendor support and response time to customer queries
  • Experience developing training for non-technical users of program
  • Vendor relations, contract negotiations, and vendor management experience
  • Understanding of Portfolio Accounting, including: Buying power; Corporate action processing (splits, reverse splits, mergers, cash and stock dividends, acquisitions, etc.); interest and coupon payments; stocks, mutual funds, bonds
  • Knowledge of data feed vendor services, primarily Reuters and S&P
  • Knowledge of and/or passion for K-12 educational programs, ideally in the area of web-based learning and/or financial education
  • Knowledge and use of social media and its application
  • Ability to consistently refine/improve overall program while considering end-user experience
  • Steadfast commitment to customer service
  • Self motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, excellent relationship management skills
  • Spirit of innovation and creativity
  • Willingness to be hands-on and manage one direct team member and project team
  • Availability for out-of-hours technical support calls
