FilmAid International seeks entrepreneurial Executive Director with vision and drive to build upon FilmAid’s successful model of participatory video and film-based education in refugee camps and other communities in need. Executive Director will forge innovative new programs that embrace trends and opportunities in mobile technology and digital media.
About FilmAid International
FilmAid International (www.filmaid.org) uses the power of film and media to transcend language and literacy, bringing life-saving information, psychological relief and much-needed hope to refugees and other communities in need around the globe.
Communities in crisis need knowledge and empowerment. FilmAid provides both to people suffering the effects of war, poverty, displacement or disaster. FilmAid works with local communities to produce and disseminate educational films and other media with relevant, life-saving and life-strengthening content, addressing local concerns such as health, protection and rights. FilmAid “mobile cinema” screenings range from intimate discussions with 40 people to large outdoor screenings, with audiences in the thousands. Each year, FilmAid reaches hundreds of thousands of people, providing information where it is needed and inspiring hope where it is lacking.
Since its inception in 1999, FilmAid has worked in collaboration with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and other global aid organizations to bring critical information, training and empowerment programs to more than two million people worldwide.
