Bennington College, a liberal arts college distinguished for its pioneering initiatives in higher education, seeks an energetic Director of Communications to lead a talented creative team in advancing the strategic position of the College.
Reporting to the Vice President for Admissions and Communications, the Director of Communications is responsible for the management and execution of a communications vision that serves a range of institutional priorities: student recruitment and retention, fundraising and alumni relations, internal communications, and media and public relations. In partnership with the Vice President, the Director works with the Creative Director and other members of the communications team—as well as colleagues across the institution—to craft and shape a multi-dimensional communications program.
An insatiable curiosity, a gift for managing people and priorities, and a penchant for elegant expression—in idea, word, and design—are essential; we welcome evidence of that capacity from any sector. The position involves managing a complex administrative operation at every level of detail, leveraging talent and resources for maximum impact, and a keen use of data in evaluating the effectiveness of what we do. In all things, the Director seeks an understanding of the values of a Bennington education through first-hand experience with students, faculty, and others in the Bennington community.
