The world of global development has changed dramatically over the past decade. Globalization, revolutionary changes in communication technology, geopolitical and economic shifts, and increasing interest in global development have contributed to both increased competition and demand for World Education’s work. At this critical juncture in the organization’s evolution, WEI seeks a strategic, results-oriented, and seasoned development and/or marketing professional to strengthen the organization’s position, particularly within the individual donor market. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional interested in working in a high performing organization where excellence and innovation are highly valued and supported. To fill this unique opportunity to build a program to increase private income, WEI seeks a candidate who can bring a mix of solid fundraising/income generating skills and innovation to our team.
Position Description

Lead and develop new strategies for WEI’s individual donor growth plans;

Manage and execute solicitations of high net worth individuals (HNWI) and donor engagement strategies;

Work in close partnership with WEI’s Communications Director on branding efforts and tools and strategies to build brand recognition;

Develop and implement high level volunteer engagement activities, including Board Development Committee, “friends of” and/or leadership giving circles;

Oversee and develop strategies for direct response/annual fund donor programs (mail, email, online etc.), including new donor acquisition, marketing, and engagement of donors on multiple social, mobile and other new media platforms; and
-
Provide overall management and oversight of fundraising, including income benchmarking and planning, and associate staff activities in research, information management, annual fund, and other related work.
Desired Qualifications*:
Passion for and commitment to World Education’s mission;
-
Seven-ten years of experience in strategic fundraising and/or marketing, for the purpose of expanding an individual donor or customer base in a high performing non-profit or private sector institution;

Track record in identifying, reaching, growing, and stewarding/retaining individual major donor and/or customer base;

Successful major gift experience, with a minimum of three-plus years of direct solicitation and, ideally for 5 and/or 6-figure donations;

Discretion and an ability to interact with high-level donors and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
-
Excellent communications skills, both spoken and written with a demonstrable track record in fundraising/marketing correspondence and proposals or business plans;

Innovative and a demonstrated facility with social media, new technology tools, platforms and marketing strategies;
-
Experience creating and implementing annual plans and strategies for income generation;

Experience with or oversight of annual fund;

Skills and interest in managing and tracking data for evaluation; and

Team leadership and management skills
