The purpose of The Garden Club of America is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.
GCA club members are as varied in their talents and achievements as the organization itself. At the local level, nearly 18,000 individuals contribute a wealth of energy and expertise to the projects and activities of the Garden Club of America's 200 member clubs. Members from across the country also serve on more than 40 national-level committees, each of which plays a specific role in furthering The Garden Club of America's purpose.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Garden Club of America, a volunteer nonprofit organization now in its Centennial year, is seeking qualified applicants for an exciting new staff position. The Design and Innovations Manager works with the Chief Operating Officer to provide systems and tools that support the work of GCA and its national committees. The Design and Innovations Manager will have expertise with a variety of digital and web technologies including editing, design, and publications software. S/he will bring excellent graphic design and layout abilities to GCA's internal communications, to include internal branding, web page updates, and major printed publications. S/he will also provide creative counsel, training, and project management for the implementation of existing and new website modules. As a manager of GCA's new Communications and Central Operations Department, s/he will team lead 2 staff associates, working also with a broad base of active volunteer talent and reporting to the
Chief Operating Officer. (GCA is currently seeking a new staff member, the Data and Graphics Associate, reporting to this position.) The Design and Innovations Manager will:

Collaboratively execute the maintenance and on-going development of GCA’s new web communication platforms including the GCA public site, member site, and a related publications / resource archive.

Collaborate with the COO and publication editors on a variety of printed communications including the GCA Bulletin, program-related publications, and business papers – to include centralized support for publishing tools and style guidelines.

Identify and implement IT process improvements within GCA and the national headquarters including the conversion to electronic forms and publications, file-sharing, automation of administrative processes, and A/V capabilities.

Supervise GCA staff and collaborate with volunteers who serve communication and technology functions within the organization.
Qualifications

Track record of implementing process improvements through the application of information and communications technology

Demonstrated success at managing projects in a decentralized workplace

Strong business and creative writing skills

Strong graphic design and publishing skills

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to work in multi-faceted and collaborative environment

Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of volunteer membership

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing employees in a technical support environment

Bachelor's Degree
