Garden Club of America - Data and Graphics Associate

The purpose of The Garden Club of America is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.

GCA club members are as varied in their talents and achievements as the organization itself. At the local level, nearly 18,000 individuals contribute a wealth of energy and expertise to the projects and activities of the Garden Club of America's 200 member clubs. Members from across the country also serve on more than 40 national-level committees, each of which plays a specific role in furthering The Garden Club of America's purpose.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Garden Club of America, a volunteer nonprofit organization now in its Centennial year, is seeking qualified applicants for an exciting new staff position. The Data and Graphics Associate will report to the Design and Innovations Manager (and COO in the short-term). Facile in both Mac and PC Platforms, s/he will serve as a GCA Member Support professional, providing GCA staff, volunteers, and members with effective and timely support for inquiries made to HQ and the CCO Team. S/he will support the maintenance and reporting of member, calendar, speaker, and registration records by ensuring accurate data entry and creating polished reports. S/he will help maintain electronic file management on behalf of her team and the broader organization. S/he will assist with all A/V and technology set-up for events and gatherings at GCA Headquarters and maintain inventory for the department's equipment and software assets. As assigned, s/he will support web and design projects incl uding but not limited to website updates, slide presentations, mass mailings, document and form creation, and major publications under the direction of the Design and Innovations Manager.

Job Specific Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of popular software; savvy with A/V equipment as well as both Mac and PC platforms
  • Strong graphic design skills; a good eye for layout
  • Organizational Skills – particularly with records management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to work in a multi-faceted and collaborative environment
  • Initiative to find answers to fill gaps in knowledge / problem solving / critical thinking
  • Ability to explain procedures clearly, both in writing and orally
  • Bachelor's Degree
