EarthTeam, which was founded in 2000, provides middle and high school students
and teachers in the San Francisco East Bay area with environmental science activities in the classroom and in the field. EarthTeam’s mission is to empower teens to become lifelong environmental stewards through experiential education, skills development, and the building of community connections. Annually, 2,000+ secondary school students at 30 schools in the San Francisco East Bay experience dynamic environmental and health science investigations. The organization provides Standards-based curriculum to teachers, environmental education and leadership opportunities for teens, access to experts in the fields of science and public health. EarthTeam educators present investigations in the classroom and organize off-campus activities for students to complement the environmental and health science concepts learned at school. Our educators conduct several after school programs that provide leadership opportunities for teens.
Our primary audience is teens in low income communities. One of our primary goals is to develop the knowledge and leadership skills of youth, particularly the disenfranchised, for improving the environmental health of their communities.
