Early Care and Education Consortium - Executive Director
Overall Responsibilities:
-
Provide vision and leadership for the Consortium to achieve its mission
-
Implement the strategic planning goals and objectives of the Consortium
-
Maintain the legal obligations and governance functions of the Board and organization
Specific Functions:
- Government Relations/Public Policy Advocacy – Advocates at the federal level and in selected states for effective public policies and sound investments that support America’s children and families and the program providers that serve them
- Program, Product and Member Services – Oversees the development, delivery, and promotion of programs, products, and services
- Financial, Tax, Risk and Facility Management – Recommends an annual budget for Board approval and prudently manages organization’s resources within budgetary guidelines according to current laws and regulations
- Human Resource Management – Effectively manages the human resources of the organization, fully conforming to current laws and regulations
- Industry and Public Relations – Serves as a spokesperson for licensed child care centers, assuring that the Consortium and its members are consistently presented in strong, positive terms in communications with media, think tanks, national and state organizations, and other stakeholders representing diverse sectors within the education and human services sectors, and the general public
- Membership Recruitment and Development – Oversees activities to maintain and grow the Consortium’s membership, including identifying prospects, developing strategies to recruit new members, and meeting the expectations of current membership
- Board Administration and Support – Supports the Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board’s legal and governance functions
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, management, education or related fields

Understanding of early childhood education and public policy sufficient to analyze developments and provide the Board with advice and information

Strong team- and coalition-building skills
-
Experience in early childhood education, a state/federal legislative/executive agency, or a relevant trade association, strongly preferred
