Development Director

Valley Presbyterian Hospital
Culver City, California

Johnston and Company - Development Director

Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) opened its doors to the community in 1958 as a small, neighborhood provider of personalized medical care. Today, at a time when many hospitals have closed or merged with large corporate entities to ensure their survival, VPH continues to maintain its distinction as the only full-service, non-sectarian, not-for-profit, independent, acute care hospital in the San Fernando Valley, treating more than 100,000 patients every year.

The Development Director will lead VPH’s fundraising effort by building a complete development program and assisting in strengthening the philanthropic profile of the hospital. To support the continuing growth of its operations and the desire to provide an exceptional level of care that responds to the needs of the community, the Development Director will be expected to provide strategic and effective management for all of VPH’s fund development activities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Community and Market Development Department, the Development Director will be an experienced development professional with the ability to: communicate with and educate donors and sponsors about Valley Presbyterian Hospital’s work; revitalize current fund development program activities; create fund development strategies that align with VPH goals and objectives; identify opportunities for cost effective development programs and activities.

VPH will benefit from an experienced, motivated development/fundraising professional to build a comprehensive fundraising program. Ideal candidates will have: 1) a minimum five to seven years in senior-level fund development position in health care or related industry; 2) demonstrated success raising funds and developing long-term relationships with foundations, corporations and individuals; 3) excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; and 4) Minimum bachelor’s degree; graduate degree desirable.
