Manager, Volunteer Services

Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) one of New Jersey’s major cultural organizations exhibits hundreds of works by renowned and emerging contemporary sculptors on its 42 acre landscaped park and in its museum buildings, is looking to fill the position of Manager, Volunteer Services. The Manager of Volunteer Services reports directly to the Director of Operations. The position will be responsible for the recruitment, training, and utilization of the Grounds For Sculpture volunteers. The Manager of Volunteer Services will work collaboratively with multiple departments to implement a range of programs that interact with GFS’ visitors and provide constituent services, help or information, assisting in the identification of volunteer opportunities. He/she will devise and execute special events such as an annual Volunteer Luncheon, implement and coordinate volunteer recognition programs and other volunteer stewardship events. He/she will also work closely with the Developm ent Department to support volunteer needs for GFS’ annual fundraiser and other development activities and events. The position responsibilities include the implementation and strengthening of volunteer recruitment strategies, instituting a corporate volunteer program, and training the volunteers on GFS practices and the efficient and effective use of the volunteers throughout GFS. The Manager will also supervise one part-time Volunteer Associate.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required, along with 5-7 years of work experience in volunteer management in a non-profit environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior interpersonal skills are a necessity. The ability to deal with people of all levels in a pleasant, helpful manner; possess excellent customer service skills is necessary. Proficiency in all Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as the use of database and online information resources is required.

Some evening and weekend work is required.
