Street-Level Youth Media - Development and Marketing Director
Organization: Street-Level Youth Media educates Chicago’s urban youth in media arts and emerging technologies for self-expression, communication, and social change.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development and Marketing Director leads the planning and execution of strategies to achieve Street-Level’s resource development and marketing goals. The Development and Marketing Director plays a key role in the organization’s grants procurement and renewal process; marketing, communications, and public relations activities; and development of expanded revenue streams through earned income initiatives, individual giving, and other fundraising activities.
Major Responsibilities: Develop and implement annual marketing and fundraising plan to broaden target audiences, increase brand awareness, and achieve revenue goals.Manage grants calendar, including the submission of grant applications and reports to funders.Conduct ongoing research of funding opportunities and trends focused on prospecting untapped private and public sources.Develop cultivation strategies and build relationships with local businesses, professional networks, and community groups.Lead and coordinate the organization’s fundraising activities including individual giving campaigns, direct mail appeals, corporate sponsorships, donor recognition activities, and special events.Manage the organization’s communications and public relations activities, coordinating social media strategies, refining key messages for public presentations, web, and print copy.Oversee and take part in the production of organizational marketing and promotional materials, including website content, e-newsletters, program brochures, and annual report.Serve as key liaison to the media, cultivating relationships and submitting press releases, alerts, and stories to local and national outlets.Oversee and manage the organization’s fundraising database and on-line tools with the Administrative Manager.Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and minimum of 5-7 years progressive experience in fundraising, marketing, sales and /or communications with demonstrated accomplishments. Must possess high professional standards, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be capable of communicating Street-Level’s vision to various audiences. Should be organized, detail-oriented, creative, and able to work independently, under pressure, and as a team player in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills including experience with Adobe Creative Suite, CRM databases, and media production, as well as interest in and/or experience with youth media arts education highly desired.
Salary and benefits:
This is a full-time position with health, dental, and life insurance. Salary commensurate with experience.
