Magik Theatre - Development Director
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Development Director is responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for the Magik Theatre. Reporting to the Executive Director and to the Board of Directors, the Development Director will be responsible for achieving the theatre’s fundraising goals and engaging sponsors in ongoing program activities. This includes leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of Magik Theatre’s network to ensure meeting revenue goals and successfully positioning the organization for future growth and expansion.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS AREA:

Oversees development of funding relationships with government agencies, corporations, private foundations, and individual donors

Prepares promotional literature and presentations and coordinates Board efforts for cultivating and soliciting individuals, corporations, foundations, and other potential sources of support.

Meets directly with funding sources where possible

Coordinates all donor recognition activities.

Oversees the fund development database and development files to assure the lists are complete, accurate, and retrievable.

Creates/implements annual development plan

Sets sponsorship levels for corporate/individual donors

Prepares financial and performance reports to funders and to the Board

Serves as a public representative of the organization, including cultivating relationships with community members, volunteers and supporters in order to build awareness of Magik’s mission and programs

Assists in the annual Budgeting Process and provides monthly reporting and analysis when requested

Coordinates professional development for administrative staff when requested

Provides feedback to Executive Director

Performs other duties as needed by company
EDUCATION:
-
Bachelors of Arts in Managament, Communications or related field with at least five years experience in nonprofit fundraising. Masters Degree preferred.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
-
Proven track record of achieving contributed revenue targets of over $400,000 annually
-
Proven management and leadership capabilities
-
Experience working with Senior Level Managers and a Board of Directors

High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.

Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively
-
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and thorough understanding of strategic development
-
Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts
-
Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
-
Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base
-
Good computer skills and knowledge of data base programs
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Avaiable to work weekends and nights as required

Valid Driver’s Licence

Availability to begin work no later than January 31, 2013
