Nellie Mae Education Foundation - Director of Strategic Communications

The Nellie Mae Education Foundation (NMEF), New England’s largest public charity focused solely on education, is looking for a new Director of Strategic Communications. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the educational landscape in New England. The new Director will be an expert in the many tools available for today’s communications professional, a compelling communicator, and a relationship-builder. S/he will bring strong strategic and creative thinking, complemented by pragmatism and the ability to implement at many levels. An effective manager of both people and projects, s/he will oversee the operation of a small department and the work of consultants.

NMEF works to reshape public education across New England to be more equitable and more effective, so that every learner graduates from high school prepared for success. NMEF has an ambitious scope of activities to achieve its sweeping vision for public education, including: influencing and promoting successful, research-based practices; influencing policy at the local, state, and national levels; and catalyzing public support for innovative reform initiatives. For more information about NMEF, visit: http://www.nmefoundation.org.

The Director of Strategic Communications will have responsibility for all internal and external communications functions, while also playing an important role in NMEF’s strategic leadership. Working with the senior team, s/he will help to refine and coordinate the implementation of a Foundation Public Understanding and Demand (PU&D) Strategy, helping to position the Foundation as a thought leader in education reform. In addition, s/he will translate and adapt complex information for delivery to multiple audiences, including policy-makers, practitioners, community leaders and other organizations, and be savvy about how NMEF can leverage its network of partners and other entities to accomplish its mission.

The Nellie Mae Education Foundation is committed to hiring individuals who reflect the diversity of the communities it serves.

To Apply: This is a unique opportunity for a communications expert to bring vision and practical guidance to communication initiatives that will make a real difference for the students of New England.
