Development Manager

Save-A-Pet, Inc is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Development Manager. Save-A-Pet is a non-profit no-kill animal rescue organization with an adoption center located in Grayslake, IL. Our mission is to rescue or take in animals that are homeless, going to be euthanized or abused and to help them heal, both physically and emotionally. Our ultimate goal is to find the animals their "forever homes". We use the mantra: "Help, Heal, Home."

An ideal candidate will have a proven track record fundraising for a non-profit where relationships with donors, volunteers, and the community are vital. We are looking for an individual with ambition, motivation, and a passion for animals to help us further develop our fundraising plan and to build our presence in the community. This individual will be required to build relationships with our donor base as well as to help cultivate future donors. In addition, we are also looking for an individual to go out into the community and further build our base of corporate sponsorship.

This position will be responsible for being the hub of all development activities, including but not limited to: newsletters and appeal mailings, grant writing, managing databases, event planning, promotions, and soliciting/cultivating new avenues for revenue/fundraising. As Development Manager, the candidate will work with staff, Board Members, and volunteers in planning and implementing all of Save-A-Pet's fundraising activities. This position does not have any direct reports but will manage a team of volunteers who are responsible for the execution of events and data entry.

We are looking for an out-going, enthusiastic individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of animals and would like to help grow Save-A-Pet's presence in the community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree, though Master's is preferred.

2-3 years experience in a fundraising management role. Candidates must have a proven track record of planning and executing cost effective fundraising campaigns that have raised six figures or more. Candidates must have experience working with volunteers, corporate decision makers, and major donors. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Comfort with speaking publically is a must. Candidates with experience using Adobe products, like Photo Shop, are preferred.
