Garden Club of America - Communications and Technology Director
The Garden Club of America, a volunteer nonprofit organization now in its Centennial year, is seeking qualified applicants for an exciting new position. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Communications and Technology Director will work closely with the COO and volunteers who serve communication and technology functions within the organization to oversee the development and enhancement of GCA’s member website. Additionally, the C&T Director understands and actively manages a variety of communications and IT-based projects that will strengthen GCA’s communications and improve the efficiency of its administrative systems for serving volunteers, staff, and the public. The C&T Director also has expert design skills, providing professional resources to the presentation and editing of all printed/digital materials (often sourced outside of our staff and volunteer body and currently lacking a unified look and work flow).
Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees and collaboratively executes the maintenance and on-going development of GCA’s new web communication platforms including the GCA public site, member site, and a related publications / resource archive.

Collaborates with the COO and publication editors on a variety of printed communications including the GCA Bulletin, program-related publications, and business papers.

Identifies and implements IT process improvements within GCA and the national headquarters including the conversion to electronic forms and publications, file-sharing, automation of administrative processes, and A/V capabilities.

Supervises GCA staff and collaborates with volunteers who serve communication and technology functions within the organization.
Qualifications

Proven track record of implementing process improvements through the application of information and communications technology

Demonstrated success at managing projects in a decentralized workplace

Strong business and creative writing skills

Strong graphic design and publishing skills

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to work in multi-faceted and collaborative environment

Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of volunteer membership

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing employees in a technical support environment

Bachelor's Degree
