San Francisco State University seeks a dynamic, visionary individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizations skills to serve as Director of its Osher Lifelong Institute (OLLI). One of a network of 117 such Institutes nationwide, SF State’s OLLI is a vibrant community of Bay Area residents age 50 and up pursuing active learning through classes, workshops, events, and interest groups at the University’s downtown and main campuses.

Position: Staff position with generous benefits; salary competitive, commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications: baccalaureate degree at a minimum, demonstrated leadership in higher education or non-profit organizations, ability to work effectively with volunteers.

Duties include: working effectively with University administrators and a volunteer advisory council of OLLI members; serving as the chief liaison to the Bernard Osher Foundation; managing the Institute’s day-to-day operations and overseeing its budget; undertaking program and curriculum development; implementing a marketing plan aimed at membership expansion; building on existing partnerships and creating new ones with Bay Area cultural/other organizations and academic units across the University; recruiting faculty, whether retired SF State professors, current or retired lecturers, or local experts; and sustaining bonds of conviviality and respect that have been established among OLLI members.
