Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree AND 3 years of experience direct fund-raising experience including major gifts in a non-profit organization
OR
equivalent combination of a bachelor’s degree and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.

Strong communication skills: written, oral and active listening.

Strong planning and organizational skills, including ability to manage multiple relationships to the point of and through solicitation.

Experience supervising, developing and holding a team of professional staff accountable toward the accomplishment of measurable goals/outcomes.

Understanding of external client/stakeholder base and an appreciation for stakeholder expectations, desires, and needs.
-
Demonstrated ability to adapt identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship programs for appropriate groups and key individuals.
-
Demonstrated appreciation and understanding for the fund-raising cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship.
-
Active involvement in development processes including donor/prospect tracking and moves management as documented on the Raiser’s Edge software system (or comparable software system).

Knowledge of volunteer and recruitment techniques.
-
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
-
Strong initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.
-
Strong ability for follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree.
-
Experience in Higher Education.

Experience working with College of Business graduates/professionals.
-
Knowledge of organizational mission and direction as a context for all outreach to external constituencies.

Knowledge of structure, policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Attendance at University and College events and functions which may occur in the evening and/or weekends.
- Extensive travel away from the office will be required including evening and weekend work. Majority of travel will be on the westside of Washington state.
- Incumbent must display personal characteristics associated with successful development professionals, including a vigorous work ethic, sound judgment, impeccable integrity, demonstrated initiative, appropriate professional appearance, and attitude and personality to work effectively with colleagues, Central Washington University faculty and staff members, volunteers, and constituents.
Job duties:
Alumni/Donor Outreach:
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects in support of Central Washington University by matching and advancing the college’s fund-raising priorities with prospective donors’ interests.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects; develop and document written cultivation and solicitation strategies/proposals, purposefully guiding donors to make major investments in Central Washington University, and develop relationships to maximize their giving potential over time.
- Meet explicit performance objectives including the completion of personal face-to-face visits with assigned suspects and prospects with a like number of other actions (phone calls, emails, personal notes) each month.
Strategic Reporting and Tracking:
- Coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations with other Central Washington University representatives, including the president, other senior staff, university advancement colleagues, key faculty, and volunteers as appropriate. Ensure appropriate stewardship reports are prepared, and activities conducted, for major gift donors.
- Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation actions in the form of contact reports, stage updates, and strategy statement updates and revisions on Raiser’s Edge.
- Participate in the prospect tracking and moves management process in alignment with established procedures and protocols through reporting on results, calendar plans, documentation of strategies, and participation in prospect-focused meetings.
- Develop succinct but strategic briefing materials in support of the work of college leaders and partners in cultivation.
- Supervise staff including hiring, establish job performance standards, evaluate job performance, take correction action, train, assign, and schedule work, and act upon leave requests.
- Other duties as assigned.
