JPB Foundation - Human Resources Manager
The JPB Foundation, a new national philanthropy based in New York, seeks a person to solely manage the Foundation’s human resources needs. The mission of the Foundation is “to enhance the quality of life in the United States through transformational initiatives that promote the health of our communities by creating opportunities for those in poverty, supporting pioneering medial research and enriching and sustaining the environment”.
As such, the Foundation’s work focuses in three program areas: Poverty, Medical Research and the Environment. The three programs work in close collaboration pursuing integrated approaches wherever possible and funding issues that reach across program areas. The JPB Foundation utilizes four strategies in its grantmaking: 1) supporting research and dissemination; 2) identifying causes to barriers and evaluating and translating promising practices; 3) scaling high quality, evidence-based practices and 4) building the capacity of organizations and fields. Once it is fully funded, the Foundation’s annual grant making budget will be substantial.
Role of the Human Resources Manager
The JPB Foundation is seeking a Human Resources Manager who can perform a broad range of administrative and paraprofessional responsibilities in the office. The HR Manager will be responsible for duties related to employee relations, benefits, compensation, training, and recruitment. Because of the Foundation’s recent opening, the HR Manager must be willing and able to create, refine, and implement human resource policies, programs, and services as needed. This position requires a Manager who is flexible, resourceful, and creative.
Responsibilities

Maintains all office files and records; performs a variety of support duties including maintenance of all office insurance policies and service contracts; responds to staff needs and the public.

Assists with the interview process including scheduling, checking references, and assisting new employees.

Understands the practices and methodology related to the operations of human resources departments, including compensation, employee benefits, and employee relations.

Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommends benefit programs to management; directs the processing of benefit claims.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Solid administrative skills; detail oriented, meticulous, thorough in planning and executing assigned tasks.

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain positive, effective work relationships with each member of the staff.

Organized and able to work independently on a variety of assigned tasks and projects.
Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. Degree and human resources experience
- Outstanding computer skills; highly proficient in Word and Excel
- Prior experience with compensation programs
- Prior experience with employee benefit programs and office insurance management
- Adheres to confidentiality requirements
- Prior experience working with a non-profit or Foundation is a plus
