BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn is a multi-disciplinary non-profit dedicated to presenting art and media programs that reflect Brooklyn’s creativity and diversity. BRIC also provides resources to launch, nurture and showcase artists and media makers. All of BRIC’s offerings are free or low cost, to advance access to and understanding of arts and media. BRIC presents programming in three disciplines: Contemporary Art, Performing Arts and Community Media. In October 2013, we will move to our new home, BRIC Arts | Media House, which is currently under renovation by the City of New York. This will bring all of our programs under one roof for the first time, and will create a multidisciplinary arts and media center designed to support artists and engage the public.

Purpose of Position: The Interim Director of Marketing & Communications will oversee BRIC organizational marketing for an approximately 3 ½ month period while our Director of Marketing and Communications is on leave. Among other things, the position will include overseeing communication of a new brand campaign and marketing ramp-up for the opening of BRIC House, launch of the 35th anniversary season of BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival and other programmatic initiatives, and press coordination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Daily oversight of program marketing efforts, including review of creative designs, and materials; prepare reports on marketing efforts and metrics.
  • Assist in special event planning and serve as press liaison at events.
  • Carry out marketing plan for BRIC House opening and re-branding initiative, including press, community outreach, web, print and social media.
  • Draft press releases and marketing materials; work with in-house graphic designer for production
  • Serve as liaison to PR Firm and respond to press inquiries
  • Oversee web site content and social media channels to maintain BRIC’s online persona and ensure timely information on BRIC activities.
  • Advise and brief regularly with President on marketing and press issues; collaborate with senior management team on marketing.
  • Coordinate with members organizations of the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance and other external partners.

Education/Experience: At least 5 years marketing and management experience, preferably with a cultural organization.
