Teach For America - Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations
Teach For America - Atlanta is seeking a Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations who will work within our regional development team to help raise up to $45 million dollars in operating revenue over the next three years. The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations will manage the donors and prospects, and set and execute the high level strategies for, development streams that will likely account for 40-50% of overall regional revenue. We are looking for a Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations who is an excellent communicator, relationship-builder, project manager, and strategic thinker to help drive this effort. He/she will directly manage the Associate, Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Team Overview
Founded in 2000, TFA has placed 1,200 corps members in Metro Atlanta, positively impacting 125,000 low-income students. Currently 385 corps members teach in Atlanta Public Schools, Clayton County Public Schools, the Cobb County School District, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools, several charter schools, and pre-kindergarten providers across the region. Of the 800 alumni living and working in Metro Atlanta 67 percent continue to drive education reform from both inside and outside of the classroom, working in the field of education, including 8 school leaders, 380 teachers and an alumnus heading the Metro Atlanta KIPP network. Over 44,000 low-income students are positively impacted by TFA corps members and alumni a day.
The region is supported by a funding base of more than $10 million, and regional staff members work to train and support corps members, continually strengthen relationships with local schools and districts, foster the leadership of local alumni, and continue to grow the regional funding base to ensure that Teach For America - Atlanta can have an even greater impact.
The Teach For America - Atlanta staff will be comprised of approximately 50 members in FY13 across five functional areas: Program (the support and development of our corps members); Alumni Affairs; District, School Partnerships & Community (our relationships with schools and communities); Development (fundraising to support our operations); and Talent and Operations
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Building and cultivating long-term relationships with current and prospective funders to deepen their investment in Teach For America's mission
- Developing and implementing a multi-year strategy for ambitiously growing corporate and foundation support
- Managing the deadline-driven calendar of all development activities related to corporations and foundations
- Researching and evaluating corporate and foundation prospects
- Coordinating school visits, volunteering opportunities, and events for corporate and foundation funders
- Managing the Associate, ensuring they are producing high quality work and effectively communicating Teach For America's vision and programmatic efforts
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree required
- 3+ years experience
- Teach For America staff or alumni experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service ethic
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and positive outlook
