The Women’s Building is a women-led community space that advocates self-determination, gender equality and social justice.
Development Director Wanted
Position:
The Development Director reports to and partners with the Executive Director to design and successfully implement the fundraising efforts at The Women's Building.
Presently, the position is a “one woman shop” responsible for raising $250,000 – 300,000/year, focusing on income from individual donors, foundations and corporations.
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement TWB’s annual fundraising plan by securing financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.

Cultivate and grow relationships with present and future funders. This includes regular updates, tours of TWB and meetings.

Manage all donor data input, including timely data entry, gift processing, gift acknowledgments, and donor solicitation.

Research and develop proposals for foundation and corporate grants. Meet all deadlines for proposals and final reports.

Design and coordinate communications to TWB’s supporters, including social networking, e-newsletters and website information.

Meet with program staff to stay current with activities, issues and needs.

Grow the fundraising capacity of TWB, including the fundraising capacity of the Board of Directors.

Participate in the management team meetings and activities, including organizational development, investment issues, strategic planning and communication plans.

Support the annual Celebration of Craftsfair activities, including attending relevant meetings, providing supporting materials, and working at the fair.

Support and the fundraising activities of the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Keep up-to-date with the latest fundraising theories and processes. Attend relevant trainings as necessary.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience developing fundraising programs, with a successful track record of initiating and growing donor relationships in San Francisco, with individuals, foundations, and corporations, and obtaining large gifts.

Record of being a strategic and collaborative management member.

Proactive, energetic and entrepreneurial, with a hands-on style in developing and executing a variety of fundraising activities.

Effective communicator; dynamic, articulate and persuasive both verbally and in writing, including excellent editing and research skills. Ability to successfully gather necessary information from a wide variety of staff and the community in an efficient and effective manner.

Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and capable of handling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing time effectively.

The ability to think and act on both a strategic and tactical level, consistently executing on day-to-day priorities and tasks as well as longer-term goals. Positive leadership to design and implement strategic and practical fundraising initiatives.

High level of ease with a diverse and multi-cultural staff, and when representing TWB at community events. Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and co-workers at all levels.

Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and donor data base management, and social media skills.

The ability to thrive in a highly entrepreneurial environment where individuals care deeply about each other and the mission they serve.

Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.

Healthy sense of humor, and an ability to have fun while working hard.
