This is a great opportunity for a strong professional to lead this robust Jewish community located in Albany, N.Y., the state’s capital. With a Jewish population of 20,000, this community encompasses Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, Rensselaer and Warren counties. Federation is the central agency in Northeastern New York for meeting Jewish needs and articulating Jewish concerns in the local community, nationally, in Israel and around the world.

The President and CEO will implement the strategic plan, developed with significant community involvement over the last two years, and help its ongoing evolution. Strategic goals include strengthening Federation’s ability to serve as a community builder, facilitator and change agent; and sustaining/enhancing current initiatives designed to support a thriving, vibrant community that engages all Jews in the region in Jewish life. The incumbent will be a seasoned and successful fundraiser; s/he will cultivate volunteer leadership by partnering with the dedicated and knowledgeable community volunteers, particularly in educating and inspiring the next generation through relevant messaging and programmatic initiatives.

An equidistant three hours from New York City, Montreal and Boston, the Northeastern New York region is home to several highly rated public school systems, eight colleges and universities, and is a cultured environment of theatre and music. The region is also at the heart of Tech Valley, which represents the merging of entrepreneurial activity, high-tech companies, and educational facilities. Center stage to Tech Valley are The College of Nanotechnology at the University at Albany - State University of New York, and the headquarters of SEMATCH, a nonprofit research and development consortium to advance chip manufacturing in Saratoga County.
