Florida International University (FIU) is an urban, multi-campus, public research university serving its students and the diverse population of South Florida. With more than 130,000 alumni, FIU constitutes one of the fastest-growing university alumni groups in the country.
The FIU College of Law offers a contemporary, 21st century approach to educating lawyers that builds on the rich traditions of the past while taking into account modern perspectives. The College not only prepares students for traditional law practice but also fosters understanding of disparate cultures and points of view. Opened in August 2002, the College is committed to training professionals representative of an increasingly diverse population who are also dedicated to serving the community by providing an array of legal services to those unable to afford legal representation. The College is consistently ranked in the “Top 10” by Princeton Review in the category of faculty diversity, and US News and World Report frequently recognizes the student body as being one of the most diverse in the nation. Hispanic Business has ranked the College among the top five law schools for Hispanics, and The National Jurist ranks the College
first in Hispanic population and as among the top 10 schools overall for best value in legal education.
