Board Member Vice Chair

Job Duties:

1. Govern the organization's mission and purposes. Ensure effective organizational planning. Review the plan periodically for accuracy and validity.
2. Provide ongoing support and guidance for the executive; review her performance.
3. Ensure adequate resources. Manage resources effectively.
4. Enhance the organization's public image.
5. Serve as a court of appeal for unresolved issues or complaints.
6. Enhance the organization’s public standing. The board is the organization’s primary link to the community.
7. Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
8. Select new board members and orient them to their responsibilities, and the organization's history, needs, and challenges.
9. Evaluating the Board’s performance, recognize its achievements and determine which areas need to be improved.
10. Select the executive staff through an appropriate process.
11. Performs Chair responsibilities when the Chair cannot be available (see Board Chair Job Description).
12. Works closely with the Chair to develop and implement plans.
