International Treatment Preparedness Coalition - Director of Finance and Administration

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL TREATMENT PREPAREDNESS COALITION (ITPC) a project of Tides Center:

ITPC is the world's leading community-based movement of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and their supporters united in promoting access to treatment. ITPC members include community organizations, local NGOs, researchers, and activists with strong expertise in HIV treatment, HIV co-infections, health systems and related issues. For nearly a decade, ITPC has advocated for treatment access and promoted treatment literacy, ensuring that PLHIV actively shape their own futures and lead productive lives. ITPC’s Global Secretariat is located in New York City and supports regional networks around the globe.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration will implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support ITPC’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of administrative and financial systems including finance, accounting, information technology, human resources, and facilities. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance and Administration will be involved in a range of strategic planning and internal initiatives. The Director of Finance and Administration is based in ITPC’s Global Secretariat in New York City.

The Director of Finance and Administration will work closely with the Executive Director and the senior management team in developing and implementing ITPC’s strategic plan. In particular, the Director of Finance and Adminstration will partner with ITPC’s Global Development Director to ensure consistency and accuracy in revenue forecasting and tracking, and with senior program staff to ensure efficient budgeting and fiscal controls. The Director of Finance and Administration will act as the primary liaison to the board of directors' finance committee, working closely with the committee to strengthen ITPC’s financial position. The successful candidate will continually evaluate best industry practices with an eye toward both future needs and budget realities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and manage ITPC’s budgeting, financial planning and forecasting, and accounting functions;
  2. Prepare financial reports for all of ITPC’s stakeholders;
  3. Oversee cash management systems and investments;
  4. Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and other laws and regulatory standards;
  5. Manage information technology and knowledge management systems, including hardware and software, data integrity and security;
  6. Develop and oversee operational policies and procedures;
  7. Oversee human resources, including hiring, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, training, and performance evaluation
  8. Manage relationship with Tides Center (fiscal sponsor) & Tides Foundation (grant-making) on finance & administration
  9. Contribute to capacity building efforts among ITPC’s regional network affiliates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or accounting required; CPA and/or master’s degree preferred;
  2. At least 8 years of senior financial management experience, of which at least 5 years is in the nonprofit sector
  3. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles as relevant to nonprofit entities, experience with IRS §501 (c)(3) organizations is strongly preferred;
  4. Acumen in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use;
  5. Familiarity with foreign currency exchange systems, practices, and accounting;
  6. Highly skilled at team building, staff management, and conflict resolution;
  7. Ability to interact professionally with senior management and program directors;
  8. Ability to work independently, handling and prioritizing multiple time-sensitive projects; firm commitment to meeting deadlines;
  9. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
  10. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge, QuickBooks and/or other accounting software;
  11. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to utilize pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas;
  12. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  13. Must be highly motivated and committed to ITPC’s mission.
