World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Sr. Development Officer for foundation relations to oversees the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundation prospects toward achieving World Wildlife Fund’s annual foundation fundraising goal of $15M+.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, and manages strategies for foundation fundraising in coordination with the Director of Foundation Relations, Executive Staff, and other relevant Program and Fundraising Staff. In doing so, may also define, guide, and oversee the work of one or more Development Officers or Associates.

Takes primary responsibility for raising foundation funds for several priority areas of WWF's conservation program. In collaboration with Program Staff, researches prospects, develops solicitation strategies, and writes/edits/coordinates proposals.

Monitors overall relationships with foundation donors to ensure appropriate level of interaction.

Directs grant stewardship for WWF’s existing grant contributions. Oversees reporting process (coordinates report writing process and reviews/edits all final reports) and assures compliance with donor reporting requirements and deadlines.

Identifies, initiates, and makes donor cultivation and solicitation visits. Also coordinates preparation of briefing materials for visits alone, for, or in concert with Senior Development Staff and Program Staff.

Provides ongoing guidance and feedback to Program and Executive Staff to positively shape dialogue with foundation donors and prospects, such as talking points for meetings, coaching on presentations, and other communications recommendations.

Prepares annual budgets and work plans for foundation fundraising in coordination with the Director of Foundation Relations. On a regular basis, evaluates progress toward work plan goals, and in coordination with the Director, adjusts plans to meet those goals.

Tracks foundation activity and revenue on an ongoing basis. Prepares monthly foundation activity reports for both Development and Finance, as well as other special reports as needed.

Manages acknowledgement of contributions from foundation donors, including grant contracts and related correspondence from WWF’s Program and Executive leadership.

Monitors trends in foundation giving and works with Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations and relevant Program Staff to integrate findings into foundation fundraising strategies.

Suggests, designs, and implements special projects as needed.
Working Relationships:

Internal: Maintains strong relationships with Program Staff at all levels of the WWF organization. Communicates and interacts regularly with Executive staff, Finance and Accounting Departments, Marketing Department, and other Development staff.

External: Initiates and maintains relationships with foundation donors and prospects.
Supervisory Responsibility:
May directly or indirectly supervise Development Officers or Associates.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience: A Bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of six years of foundation, corporate, or government fundraising/grant writing experience is required. Must demonstrate a successful record of fundraising accomplishments, and ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of conservation/environmental issues and International experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational ability. Knowledge of standard development practices, proposal and report writing, and prospect research. Should also possess a demonstrated interest in environmental policy, wildlife/wild lands conservation issues, and a commitment to the goals of World Wildlife Fund.
