Alameda County Community Food Bank - Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager
The Alameda County Community Food Bank is seeking a senior level fundraiser to serve as our Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager. This position reports directly to the Director of Development and Marketing and is responsible for maximizing institutional giving and securing funding/contributions from foundations, corporations and government entities. Responsibilities include prospect identification, stewardship, proposal writing, reporting and portfolio management. An integral member of a 16 person development department, this individual manages a team of four including a grant writer, corporate partnership and events coordinator and food drive coordinator.
Established in 1985, the Alameda County Community Food Bank is a fast-growing, multi-faceted organization at the forefront of hungerrelief efforts in the Bay Area. This year, the Food Bank will distribute more than 24 million pounds of food through an extensive network of 275 food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partner organizations – as well as our own innovative programs to address the needs of underserved neighborhoods. One of the Bay Area’s preeminent nonprofit organizations, the Food Bank serves 1 in 6 Alameda County residents and employs a program-based approach toward eradicating hunger. Major initiatives include food sourcing and distribution, dynamic nutrition education programs, an extensive food stamp outreach program, and a robust advocacy program that promotes and protects anti-poverty policies with local, state and federal legislators. The Food Bank has been awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating – 4-stars – for
five consecutive years.
The Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager will:

Manage relationships with key decision makers at foundations and corporations to secure ongoing and increased levels of support to meet annual fund goals

Identify prospects for new and increased institutional gifts/strategic partnership opportunities

Craft persuasive proposals, case statements and other solicitation materials

Develop moves management strategy, conduct donor visits and close gifts

Work with team to establish and meet stretch goals for funding, sponsorships, event proceeds and food drive participation

Oversee annual grants calendar and ensure submission of timely, compelling request/reports to current and prospective funders, demonstrating a clear understanding of Food Bank programs, services, strategic initiatives and budgetary needs

Manage annual application/reporting for government grants; research new government funding opportunities

Conduct prospect research and maintain strong knowledge of current trends in institutional giving and issues impacting the local business community

Oversee tracking of donor/funder files and ensure information is accurate, current and complete

Represent Food Bank at various community meetings and events and engage with corporate volunteer groups
Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree
-
Minimum 3 years experience working in nonprofit development including planning, strategy and analysis applicable to corporate, foundation and government funding

Successful track record in soliciting and securing institutional gifts (ranging from $25,000 to $250,000) and proactive donor stewardship

Persuasive verbal and written communications skills with substantial experience in writing successful grant proposals and sponsorship requests

Strong management experience and demonstrated ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve goals

Proficient in conducting comprehensive prospect research and generating funder profiles

Highly organized; able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict project deadlines

Ability to independently drive projects and build effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external customers; comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances

Interest in and commitment to the mission of the Food Bank

Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite, fundraising databases such as DonorQuest or Razor’s Edge and prospect research tools

This is an exempt position, with a total compensation package that includes a competitive salary along with an outstanding benefit package to include medical, dental, supplemental insurances, a matching 403(b), EAP and FSA as well as vacation, sick and holiday pay.
