New York Needs You - Career Development Programs and Tech Coordinator

After three years of success with our selective Fellows Program, NYNY is expanding our impact through college partnerships and technology. NYNY is seeking a Career Development Programs and Technology Coordinator to manage and expand our Career Development Program and help develop new online products. The Coordinator will report to the Chief Program Officer. Primary responsibilities will be to manage, refine, evaluate and expand the Career Development Program, a series of career exploration and exposure seminars on community college campuses. The coordinator will build and manage relationships with undergraduates and program partners, recruit and manage volunteer young professionals, and coordinate all logistics and event planning for on-campus events. The Coordinator will also develop and deliver presentations on industries as needed. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist with the development on NYNY’s online internship tools by conducting research on online peers, running pilots, and working with outside vendors on online products. The ideal candidate should be excited about leading in a start-up / entrepreneurial environment and engaging with NYNY’s key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as internal central point of contact for the CDP and Technology Programs
  • Event Management (serve as event lead for up to two CDP events per week during the school year)
  • Moderate the overall event, which may include delivering the presentation, moderating the panel and ensuring that structured networking runs smoothly
  • Manage materials (i.e. nametags, evaluation forms)
  • Manage registration, reserve space and set-up and breakdown with on-campus partners
  • Manage and build college partnerships
  • Recruit new partner campuses and work with staff to integrate programming into college campus and existing programs/initiatives
  • Collaborate on industry selection and marketing techniques
  • Coordinate event logistics with Office of Career Development
  • Update staff frequently to maintain positive relationships
  • Manage volunteer relationships
  • Recruit and train volunteers to be moderators, panelists and networking volunteers
  • Manage volunteer communications and maintain positive relationships
  • Manage student relationships
  • Lead student publicity and manage student attendance (including reminder and thank you emails)
  • Create marketing campaigns (emails and posters) to appeal to students
  • Manage and track program evaluation and demographic information
  • Create and edit curricula for each industry and college
  • Assist with the development of online products
  • Research and liaise with vendors
  • Develop specifications documents
  • Gather data and feedback from staff, students, volunteers, and peers to guide product design
  • Drive NYNY communications and marketing to support recruiting, fundraising and programmatic activities – website and other online communication tools, web/ other inquiries, newsletters, collateral
  • Hire and supervise temporary employees and interns
  • Additional projects and duties as determined by the Chief Program Officer
  • In addition to daily responsibilities, Saturday support for the Fellowship program may be occasionally required (1-Saturdays per month)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s Degree in business or nonprofit management would be a strong “plus”
  • Rigorous attention to detail and follow through
  • Experience planning and executing events for up to 100 attendees
  • Program management experience, with aptitude in creatively addressing the needs of program constituents through infrastructure and curriculum changes
  • Strong interest in online education and technology
  • Computer literate and Microsoft Office proficient (strong proficiency with excel required)
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS, and with information design, user interface design, or any solution/system architecture an asset
  • Preference for candidates with a strong understanding of technology, networks, databases, applications, platforms, and operating systems, as well as information design, usability, and workflow
  • Minimum of 2 years professional work experience in a corporate environment, or in a directly related field within a career-focused nonprofit
  • Successful candidate should ideally have a strong background in career development and/or mentoring and significant knowledge and exposure to the components and challenges of low-income college students
  • Must possess superior relationship management, administrative, and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deliverables effectively
  • Commitment to outcomes driven performance
  • Aptitude in consistently addressing the needs of all related constituents
  • Strong interest and willingness to give and receive feedback
  • High level of energy and commitment
