MedStar Health Research Institute is actively seeking qualified applications for a Director, Research, Planning and Communications. This position is located in our corporate office in Hyattsville, MD.
Ideal candidates for this position will have a strong business capture background in the federal sector. Candidates will have hands-on experience identifying federal grant and contracting opportunities, writing and project managing the development of winning proposals, including IDIQ contract pursuits, and a positive track record building revenue pipelines.
The position is responsible for leading and managing multiple functions that support and enhance the strategic research goals of MHRI. These functions include: 1) business development in the commercial, private and public sectors (development of strategic partnerships with internal and external organizations and identification of funding opportunities via grants and contracts); 2) investigator support services; 3) creating and implementation of MHRI’s operational plan and strategic development initiatives; 4) directing the communications and marketing initiatives that promote MedStar Health Research Institute (MHRI) to internal and external audiences and 5) liaison to the MedStar health corporate planning, communication and development (philanthropic) offices to internally promote and represent research-related efforts and MHRI.
More specifically, the position is responsible for developing and maintaining research support infrastructure that facilitates and serves as the foundation for all grant and contract research-related business development activities. The overall goals of the position are to create and maintain a research infrastructure that facilitates and serves as the foundation of all grant and contract research-related business development activities and to enhance MHRI’s ability to provide high quality support for MedStar investigators.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree preferred. Degree in business, communications or marketing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum five years post-graduate, job-related experience in business development; and additional experience in communications or public relations required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal, analytical and planning skills; self-motivated. Knowledge of healthcare systems and/or research environments preferred. Must be an advanced user of personal computers and business related software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
