Columbia University Medical Center - IT/Project Manager
This position will be assigned full-time to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Reporting to the Director of Administration in Orthopaedic Surgery, the incumbent will be responsible for managing all activities related to the department's information technology needs. Provides desktop, server and website support and technical assistance, including CROWN electronic health record system. Upgrades and maintains hardware, software, telecommunication connections, e-mail and security systems. Provides user training and education as needed. Evaluates equipment and software needs and makes recommendations.
Responsibilities will include: information technology consulting for needs analysis and hardware and software configuration; researching new technologies; implementing new and/or commercial platforms to solve existing or newly arisen problems; and providing overall installation and maintenance support for all department computers, servers and peripherals. Also, determines deployment methodology, conducts test pilots and completes system documentation. Manages moves, adds and changes (MACs) with department and other supporting IT groups. Interacts with other technology groups to identify and correct problems. Serves as liaison with internal and external vendors and IT groups, from both the medical center and the hospital. The IT/Project Manager is responsible for updating the department’s websites and newsletters, and will work with external web groups to manage updates to external websites.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus seven years of related experience.
Additional Minimum Requirements:
Must have: a thorough and demonstrated understanding of all networking principles, including installing, configuring and troubleshooting server and desktop hardware and software for PC’s, Macs and various servers, printers and scanners; demonstrated experience and ability to collaborate with technical personnel; success in delivering projects on time and within budget; demonstrated organizational skills to plan and implement large scale hardware and software deployments; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience installing software and updates on desktops, laptops and servers. Experience troubleshooting network, software and printer problems. Skilled in website design, with knowledge of HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Drupal (or another content management system) strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualification:
Ideal candidate will have experience working in a hospital or medical center setting. This includes experience working with Electronic Health Records, as well as working with the various IT groups that comprise
