Healthy Lifestyles Director

The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center.

The Prospect Park YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who will provide direction and leadership to the Healthy Lifestyles department. The Director will ensure quality member service and satisfaction, and contribute to the success of the Association’s “Activate America Initiative”. Major responsibilities include member safety, program development, facility management, strategic planning, volunteer/committee development, and budget control.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit, train, evaluate and supervise all staff and volunteers.
• Plan, schedule and evaluate all related programs and services.
• Develop, track and control the annual income and expense budget, in accordance with Branch and Association Guidelines.
• Direct the scheduling, maintenance and repair of department facilities and equipment.
• Review staff and member evaluations/feedback as necessary.
• Research, facilitate and build quality programs that provide member satisfaction.
• Work within the community to foster a positive image to encourage good public relations.
• Serve as branch Manager on Duty.
• Serve on Branch Leadership Team and as liaison to the Association’s Healthy Lifestyles Cabinet.
• Actively participate in all trainings, designated meetings and special events.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Health Fitness, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology or other related field.
• Minimum of three years of commensurate experience in a supervisory/management position.
• Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
• ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AFAA or ACE certifications are a plus.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communications skills.
• Knowledge of MS Office and AS400 database is required.
