Pro Mujer - Grant Writer
Job Summary: Located at Pro Mujer's New York City office, the Grant Writer primarily works with the Foundation and Corporations team to develop and write grant proposals and reports for all foundation, family foundation, corporation, bilateral and multilateral fundraising. Major responsibilities also include managing the tracking and reporting system for all grants. The Grant Writer also works closely with the Finance Department and country program staff to ensure compliance of all grants received and appropriate/timely reporting. As a member of the Development Department, the Grant Writer will assist as needed with all aspects of the fundraising program and provide necessary support. The Grant Writer reports to the Development Associate Manager.
Major Duties:
Writing
-
Work with the Director of Development and Associate Manager to write and assemble proposals for funding from foundations, family foundations, corporations, and bilateral and multilateral agencies.

Assist Development Director and Development Associate Manager prepare fundraising materials to solicit corporations, foundation , and bilateral and multilateral agencies.

Complete required progress reports and final reports for all fundraising sources.
Information and materials management:

Communicate with the Finance and Operations Departments, as well as country program staff, to gather necessary and accurate information for grant applications, proposal budgets and reporting.

Prepare and update country profiles, country maps and standardized fundraising materials.

Maintain both electronic and paper files to store important donor and prospect information.

Assist in preparing presentations to internal and external audiences.
Prospecting

Conduct prospect research of new corporations, foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies sympathetic to Pro Mujer’s mission.

Prepare LOIs to new sources of funding
Translating
-
Translate from Spanish to English reports and/or data needed to produce proposals and reports.
Administrative
Other
-
Assist Development Director and Associate Manager by serving as liaison, attending meetings, and working with organization leadership and staff to facilitate processing and implementation of grants.

Assist as needed with other departmental functions.

Manage volunteers and interns.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience with professional writing preferred
-
Fluency in Spanish, both verbal and written, required

Master’s degree in relevant field preferred

Must be self-motivated, detail and deadline oriented, and capable of working comfortably with a variety of staff at all positions within the organization

Knowledge of microfinance
-
Excellent writing, organizational, budgeting, planning, research, and computer skills required

Knowledge of word processing software (MS Office) required and fundraising databases (Donor Perfect) desirable
