Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

Goodwill Industries empowers individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Development/Chief Development Officer, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, a newly created position, will be responsible for supervising all aspects of contributed income from private, public and corporate foundations. Goodwill Industries’s Development Department has a prime location in mid-Manhattan.

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will work with program staff to develop and implement a foundation and corporate fundraising plan that incorporates strategies to support and renew current grants while expanding the foundation and corporate funding base; collaborating with senior program staff to conceive and develop funding concepts; supervising all aspects of contributed income from foundations, donor advised funds, and corporate foundations; securing new donors through research and prospecting, networking and cultivation; writing and overseeing the development of funding proposals, concept papers, stewardship reports, letters of introduction, presentations, and background briefings for meetings. He/she will maintain a grants calendar and a database on current and potential funders and track all activities, including reports to donors.

Qualifications for the successful candidate include a minimum of four years of experience in foundation fundraising, preferably with a human service organization. He/she should be an excellent strategic, creative writer with strong interpersonal and oral communication skills; a highly motivated self-starter who works well with senior level leaders and foundation executives; and must be familiar with the latest tracking systems and current developments in philanthropy with a proven track record in securing corporate and foundation grants. The successful applicant should be strongly committed to Goodwill Industries’s mission. Bachelor’s degree required as well as working knowledge of Raiser's Edge.
