GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Sr. Marketing and Communications Manager is Inveneo’s marketing lead and will be responsible for the planning and execution of communications and marketing strategy for the organization. The Manager will also function as lead writer and copyeditor, producing, assigning, and editing marketing and promotional materials, and online communications.
The preferred Communications Manager will be a team player, fluent in the terminology and language of the international development community and information and communication technology industry. They will be able to craft audience-specific messaging for donors, user groups, partners, and the press across all media platforms – print, digital, and in person.
Key Responsibilities

Advance Inveneo’s positioning and messaging in the international development community and technology industry
-
Create cost-effective and targeted marketing campaigns that lead to business opportunities. (Note: Inveneo has a B-B, not a B-C strategy)

Lead internal marketing efforts, including standard presentations and the training and supporting for staff delivery them confidently and on-message

Produce relevant and engaging content for the Inveneo.org website that reinforces Inveneo’s positioning

Develop comprehensive collateral (online/print) in coordination with Inveneo’s technical teams that is accessible to non-technical decision makers- which will include datasheets, white papers, presentations, etc.

Curate the ICTworks online community, including developing original content and managing submissions and volunteer writers

Support in-person Technology Salons that drive spirited discussions and open up new business opportunities for participants
Required Skills and Experience
-
5-10 years of experience in a marketing or communications role in international development, non-profit or the technology industry

Strong social media experience
-
A solid understanding of the role of information and communication technologies in accelerating the social and economic advancement of the developing world

Experience developing and leading online marketing campaigns

Experience living or working in the developing world
-
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.
Desired Skills & Experience
-
Previous experience developing large-scale USAID proposals
-
Previous in ICT4D projects and/or marketing
-
Fluency in French or Spanish, in addition to English
Work Location
-
Position is full-time or contract, based in San Francisco, CA

Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States
-
Must be able to travel internationally to Inveneo project sites in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Middle East (10% – 20% travel req’d.)

Must be willing to work outside of standard hours as needed to interact with international partners and networks
