American Shakespeare Center - Director of Development
The American Shakespeare Center (ASC), a $2.5 million Equity theatre and educational center seeks experienced candidates for the position of Director of Development. Reporting to and in partnership with the Managing Director and working closely with the Director of Mission, the Director of Development spearheads fundraising efforts as ASC continues to grow. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Fundraising
-
Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving, special projects, and other ASC-related solicitations.

Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.

Maintains contact with and develops grant proposals for foundations and corporations.

Develops a comprehensive planned-giving program.
Board of Trustees Relations

Works with the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Managing Director, and Director of Mission to develop and recommend to the Board strategies to meet aggressive fundraising goals.

Develops fundraising training for Trustees and other leadership volunteers.

Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attends all Board meetings.

Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new members.
Development Office Infrastructure

Creates office systems to support all Development projects and operations.

Supervises donor and gift record-keeping.

Coordinates development research activities.

Oversees the management of the donor database and all records, files, and gift processing.

Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.
Qualifications
-
BA (required), MA (a plus)
-
5-plus years experience in development with demonstrated success in progressive fundraising positions, preferably within performing arts organizations and/or organizations of comparable size to the ASC

Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills

Knowledge of eTapestry and Tessitura a plus
