Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Research and in consultation with the College Development Officer, the half-time Research Coordinator will work with faculty to develop and facilitate production of research proposals for funding by private research and philanthropic foundations and for appropriate local, state and national government-sponsored funders such as NEA and NEH.
A Bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of 3 years successful experience in grant proposal narrative and budget development with demonstrated success in securing and/or awarding grants in the $25,000 and up range is required. 5 years’ experience in grant development preferred. Experience navigating complex professional environments and working with a variety of high-level individuals is required. Direct experience with government funding agencies such as NEA and NEH strongly preferred. A background in a higher education is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and creative, possessing an appreciation of the value and role of the arts and humanities. He/She will demonstrate the ability to identify potential granting entities on behalf of the college. He/She will understand and be able to communicate the goals and interests of the granting community and identify College research and scholarly pursuits that would be a likely funding fit. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing, editorial, and verbal communication skills are required. Ideally, this individual will have an appreciation for the scholarly community and the mission of a public research university.
