World Society for the Protection of Animals - Donor Development Manager
The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), one of the world’s largest international animal welfare organizations, seeks a proactive Donor Development Manager for its new office in New York City. The Donor Development Manager will cultivate and generate support from mid-level donors and prospects across the US, and will work collaboratively with the US development team, fundraisers in other country offices, and the international fundraising team in London.
The Donor Development Manager reports to the US Director of Development and will play a key role in a development department charged with raising over $6M in 2013 and with an ambitious plan for ongoing growth. He/She will cultivate, steward, and expand the relationships between the organization and its donors at all levels, with a specific focus on gifts ranging from $1,000 - $30,000. Using relationship building and cultivation skills, the Donor Development Manager will have a significant impact on WSPA’s fundraising activities and help to build the future of a growing global organization.
Responsibilities:

Create and implement strategic donor cultivation programs

Develop and maintain ongoing donor stewardship activities leading to upgrades from mid-level to major gift level

Identify opportunities to interact with individual donors to increase engagement with WSPA
-
Update donor profiles and donor database to reflect contacts, correspondence and gift information as appropriate

Use data analysis and prospect research to segment donor portfolio and determine treatment strategy and to build the prospect pipeline

Respond quickly to donors’ requests

Collaborate closely with fundraising colleagues to ensure progressive movement of donors and increased donor retention

Work closely with data management staff to design donor analytics aimed at providing the highest level of customer service and contact

Provide donor briefings to development, executive staff and Board as requested

Assist in donor cultivation and stewardship events

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience in donor development/relations.

Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships between donors and organizations, leading to upgraded and renewed gifts
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, cheerful outgoing personality and great phone “presence”

Ability to maintain confidential information

Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web based research skills, and comfortable working with social media networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret business and financial data

Strong oral and written communication skills

Attention to detail and accuracy

Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Proactive, flexible and team player

Staff management experience a plus
