Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs seeks an experienced and innovative development professional with a proven track record in corporate, non-profit, and/or political fundraising in a fast-paced environment. This individual will formulate, coordinate, and implement the overall fundraising plan and strategy for the School’s annual giving program. This is a dynamic position for an entrepreneurial fundraiser who enjoys front-line relationship building, driving new strategies, and working alongside a strong and active team.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager is a member of the School's development team and is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting alumni, parents, and friends of SIPA in support of the SIPA Annual Fund. S/he will work collaboratively with SIPA’s Office of Alumni and Development and other SIPA colleagues, faculty, University colleagues and consultants, including the centrally-based Annual Fund Programs team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage an active portfolio of 150 annual fund donors and prospects, capable of making annual gifts of up to $100,000.

Build and manage a group of active volunteers capable of both making donations themselves and soliciting gifts from others.

Increase the number of SIPA Annual Fund donors by designing and implementing effective cultivation, engagement, and fundraising strategies.

Work to actively identify lower level annual fund donors who have the capacity to give at the leadership level, and create appropriate strategies to move them along the funding continuum.

Manage the prospecting, tracking, and acknowledgement processes for the annual giving program.

Oversee special outreach strategies for a targeted portfolio of Annual Fund donors with a goal of increasing the frequency and/or size of contributions. Manage special outreach and cultivation strategies for SIPA Annual Fund leadership donors ($1,000 and above).

In collaboration with the research department, assist with the identification of prospects, review donor lists and prospect screening information.

Track and analyze effectiveness of mail, email, and phone campaigns.

Assist with and track results of an annual solicitation to the SIPA Advisory Board.

Coordinate materials for the University’s student call center and utilize SIPA students to implement a thank-you calling program for donors.

Enter and maintain applicable information in the Advance database as well as create Advance reports.

Handle other projects and assignments, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRADE
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree desirable. Minimum 4-6 years’ related experience.

Strong computer software skills, database experience and technical aptitude required

Microsoft Office expertise is essential

Some travel, evenings and weekend hours required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Post-graduate degree
