Metropolitan Washington Ear - Volunteer Manager
Metropolitan Washington Ear is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization which provides current news and information for blind/visually impaired individuals via radio and telephone dial-in services. MWE "brings the printed word to the visually impaired" through free servcies that substitute hearing for seeing, improving the lives of people with limited or no vision by enabling them to be well informed, fully productive members of their families, their communities, and the working world. The servcies are made possible by 350 dedicated volunteers who read for live radio broadcasts and also record programs.
Job Description
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the recruitment and supervision of the volunteers to ensure a highly motivated group of individuals who are committed to the mission of MWE. The Volunteer Manager recruits, trains, and is responsbile for the scheduling of volunteers. The Volunteer Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.
Primary Responsibilities

Community outreach to recruit voluteers

Matching volunteers to organizational needs and opportunities

Training and orientation for volunteers

Scheduling and supervision of volunteers

Volunteer recognition
-
Assessing organizational needs and capacity for volunteers

Database management and tracking of volunteer statistics
Qualifications

Ability to multi-task

Detail oriented and organized
-
Excellent computer skills - including Microsoft Word and Excel

Previous experience working with volunteers in a nonprofit organization a plus
