Job Summary
Partnership seeks a Senior Program Officer to direct Partnership’s initiative to raise awareness of the health-protective benefits of aspirin and increase the appropriate use of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease. The Senior Program Officer will work closely with other Partnership initiatives and projects related to clinical and community preventive services. This position requires a high degree of independence and knowledge about clinical prevention, primary care, chronic disease, and population health. This position could be full-time or part-time.
The primary responsibilities are to:

Direct Partnership’s initiative to raise awareness of the health protective benefits of aspirin and increase the appropriate use of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease. Activities include managing the initiative’s advisory committee (the Council on Aspirin for Health and Prevention (CAHP), planning and overseeing the CAHP’s annual meeting, carrying out the work of the CAHP, assisting council members in their research projects, and communicating about CAHP project activities.

Manage Partnership’s grant with the University of North Carolina’s Research Center of Excellence in Clinical Preventive Services.

Execute other projects related to clinical preventive services and chronic disease prevention. Such activities could focus on immunizations, worksite health programs, or increasing delivery of clinical preventive services in primary care settings.

Write content for Partnership’s newsletter, web site, and blog related to aspirin, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other clinical/community prevention topics.

Build relationships with health organizations, develop partnerships with external collaborators, and represent Partnership at public health professional meetings/conferences.

Participate on advisory groups and coalitions to advance Partnership’s mission and goals.

Contribute to business development and fundraising by actively seeking new business opportunities and developing written proposals.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred in public health, health policy, public policy or administration, nursing, health science, or a closely related field.

Eight to ten years of relevant work experience with a demonstrable history of increased responsibility. Work with national or state health organizations/agencies preferred.

Clinical experience in a primary care setting preferred, but not required.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Good public speaking and communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing relationships with funders, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
